Obraztsova — Prima Ballerina of the Bolshoi Theatre
Evgenia Obraztsova’s career at the Bolshoi Theater is rapidly gaining pace: no sooner than she started performing this season as a guest star, she has joined the ranks of the Bolshoi Ballet. She danced Princess Aurora in the second, January series of the premiere «Sleeping Beauty» being already a full member of the troupe. Now comes the turn of the title role in the ballet «Annie» — her debut in this role takes place on 2nd February, followed by «La Sylphide» the next week.
We hope that Evgenia Obraztsova’s devoted admirers, who always used to rush to the performances which she came to dance in St. Petersburg, are going to greet this news with great joy indeed.
Evgenia Obraztsova:
— The transition to the Bolshoi Theater is a kind of the beginning of a new artistic life. Even those ballets that I danced, «Sleeping Beauty» or «La Sylphide», are performed in other versions here, what means that they give new impetus to work, thinking and search for any additional acting paints. Any artist is always looking to expand his or her repertoire. There are very interesting roles for me at the Bolshoi Theater, for example, Annie, who has always attracted me. But I could not even imagine that I will play this role so soon!I also like very much the role of Coralie in the «Lost Illusions» — the ballet, staged specially for the Bolshoi Theater — it is of great interest to me. What about the classics, they have not been in my repertoire before, but I would like to dance «La Bayadere» and «Raymonda».
I have got lots of wishes and hopes. I want to believe that everything will come true, especially since I have a great assistant in all my endeavors — Ludmila Ivanovna Semenyaka, who has become my teacher at the Bolshoi Theatre. We have found a common language easily — we are bound by the St. Petersburg School of Ballet. Moreover, this community is expressed not only in the professional approach, but it also brought us together purely humanly. Lyudmila Ivanovna saw me back in 2005, at the Moscow Ballet Competition, and even then prophetically remarked that she saw me at the Bolshoi Theatre. Seven years ago, it sounded fantastic, so I could not even dream about anything like this. But then I often turned to Lyudmila Ivanovna for advice. Now our contacts are restricted neither by time nor space!
I also want to say that working in the troupe of the Bolshoi Theatre is a big step forward for me, a big responsibility, honor, and a very great pleasure.

On 1st January, 2012 Evgenia Obraztsova became a prima ballerina of the Bolshoi Theater. Evgenia Obraztsova also continues performing at the Mariinsky Theatre as an invited ballerina.

On November, 5th 2011 starts the display of the dancing project "Bolero" in which Evgenia Obraztsova will participate with her partner figure skater Maxim Stavissky, every Saturday on the First channel at 21:15.

On October, 16th took place a debut of Evgeniya Obraztsova on a scene of the Bolshoi theater of Russia in a "Don Quixote" ballet. Vladislav Lantratov was her partner. This season Obraztsova has been declared an invited ballerina of the Bolshoi theater.

On August 3rd, 2011 at the Royal Opera House in London's Covent Garden the "Don Quixote" performance took place with the participation of Evgenia Obraztsova. The "Financial Times" and the critic Clement Crisp awarded this performance 5 stars.

Since January, 2011 in Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Music Theatre in Moscow pass ballet rehearsals «Swan lake».
The performance will take place on April, 23rd, 2011 on a theater scene.
Evgeniya Obraztsova will play the role of Odette & Odile in the first time. This rather significant event for the Ballerina.

On 12th December Mariinsky theater is staging the «Romeo and Juliet» ballet performance, where E.O is playing one of her brightest and most dramatic parts, that she first performed when she was 18 and in which she acquired a reputation as a genuine Juliet. Evgenia’s partner is going to be Igor Kolb, one of her most favourite partners, a brilliant performer and an artist with a great dramatic gift.

Evgenya Obraztsova has returned from Tokyo where as a part of «Etoile Gala» project she took part in a number of performances: Pierre Lacotte ballet première «Three musketeers», a balcony theme from the «Romeo and Julliet» ballet of Macmilan choreography and Fokin’s «Spectre de la Rose». Evgenia’s partners were... Mathias Heymann and Mathieu Ganio.
